Light and Form
For light and form I chose The Foxes by Frans Marc. This is because its cubism based design uses a number of shapes and shades to form an image of foxes. This presents itself nicely deconstructed as well as constructed. Deconstructed you can see the individual colours and shapes' characteristics; and constructed it gives a holistic feel. Its stained glass feel also lends itself nicely to experimentation with light, shining light through different panels and seeing how that affects the feel of the piece.

With this in mind, I’ve decided to take inspiration from Richard Downing’s Fractal Clock and fragment The Foxes. The sections will be hung in such a way that you can walk amongst them and interact with them, however when you look at the pieces from a particular angle they form the original painting.

These fragments will be constructed from a translucent material, allowing the audience members to use the coloured torches around the room to illuminate the panels, exploring how that changes the feel of both the individual pieces and the overall work, which can be seen on a monitor, thanks to a camera placed at the angle that shows the complete image.
