Bounce

Bounce was created by Snarkitechure for Harbor City in 2018. This huge court of bouncy balls is designed to be interacted with and immersed in by audience members. It is a great example of interactive artwork that has an emphasis on fun.

Below is a simulation created by the user Higuma on the website Github. Although not an exact replica of Bounce, it is a close online equivalent. For such a simple concept, I found myself spending a lot of time interacting with the application, and found it very easy to loose myself in it. The first time using it I ended up on it for almost an hour! The box below is interactive, not an image, so please do have a go yourself and see if you get immersed in the way I did.

What this installation has taught me:

Unlike the other research installations, this one I unfortunately have no links with in terms of having seen it or knowing someone who has seen it. I actually found it online whilst looking for images of a trampoline park called Bounce in Milton Keynes and thought that this better represented what I was trying to explore. All the others have a particular theme, however this is more focused on the experience the audience has. It has shown me that I need to not only think about how I'm presenting and immersing them in the work, but how they're responding emotionally. This piece is all about fun and enjoyment, but that may not be appropriate for some works, so I need to create an emotional response that connects with it.
